I Hear a New World Vol.20- Trippin' Through Your Mind

As usual, this episode of I Hear a New World has been brewing in my head for quite awhile. What started out as a simple idea has expanded into a complex project that has dominated many of my days and nights over the last couple months. Regular visitors may recall that I did a podcast featuring a hodgepodge of psychedelic funk back in 2008. While this one has smatterings of funk, it's sole purpose is to take the listener on a guided trip through the mind of someone tripping on LSD, regardless of the style of music. It is the result of countless hours of listening to many different shades of psychedelic music from all over the world, weeding them out one by one and finally tweaking the flow of the mix until it sounded perfect to my ears.

In keeping with the continuity, I have opted to record this as a single mix with no interruptions relaying the tracks that have been played. I feel that it is more important to listen to this mix in its entirety without knowing the track sequence. With that being said, anyone who would like to receive a track list can drop me a line in the comments and I would be happy to oblige. You may notice that I have tacked on a Vol.1 to the end of the title, so you would be correct in thinking that there will at least be a second volume to this series. I would love to hear what you think of this mix. Until next time...

Thanks Don. Are you ready to guess any of the artists featured on the mix?

I haven't had anyone ask for the track list yet, but I will probably post it in the comments after a couple weeks.

Also, thanks for your latest donation towards my Podomatic subscription. Unfortunately, you are the only one who has donated so far, so I guess people are not motivated to help.

Alright Kevin, I've listened to this at least 5 brazillion times. I've figured out quite a few of the tracks (Tomorrow is kinda unmistakable early on) but too many gaps. How about shooting us a list or I'll give ya my email or somethin'. I give up.

Sorry I haven't been around here in awhile to check comments. Life has been really demanding lately as my girlfriend has barely been able to function normally. As you can imagine, this is physically, mentally and emotionally demanding. I will be going on a trip to see my family next Monday, so I can't imagine that there will be any updates until after my trip.

MF DOOM: Spell his name with ALL CAPS

According to sources close to the legendary rapper/producer MF DOOM, he died on 10/31/20.  His family has chosen to keep this news private until now, and the cause of death has yet to be disclosed.Below is a screenshot of the heartfelt dedication from Doom's Instagram account posted by his wife Jasmine. I am completely gutted, and am hardly able to string words together for this post. Doom's material throughout the early years as Zev Love X with KMD, to the last two decades spent with the alter egos of MF Doom, King Geedorah, Viktor Vaughan and Metal Fingers has thoroughly enriched my life. Madvillainy , his unprecedented collaboration with Madlib in 2004, will go down as one of the best records in the history of hip-hop. Doom's style is difficult to pinpoint, as he was able to rap fast with a slow, booming baritone, while delivering his lines in a cadence that was like no other before him. He made what he was doing seem effortless, but he was undoubtedly giving it his all.
