Plain Brown Wrappers #8- Electric Sunbursts of Sound

Even though I tweaked my back out while exercising this morning, I decided that I didn't want to postpone the listening party any longer. Since I am icing my back as we speak, I plan on keeping this short today.

This episode of Plain Brown Wrappers is brought to you from that corner of my brain that revels in bringing you the most twisted, innovative and head-spinning music that I can possibly muster. It is being transmitted from the overactive brainwaves of a creative genius who just might have you humming these tunes while you sip your morning latte in the back of a crowded Starbucks. Of course you will have to be locked away in your own soundworld, with a pair of headphones that allow you to explore the full spectrum of sound that this album demands. You can't put it on while you carry out the mundane activities of the day such as washing the car or cleaning the house.

Give this one some time to sink in as each song slowly unfolds into an intricate web of styles that combines all of the best elements of jazz, prog, funk and electronic.

With that, I present to you the 8th installment of the Plain Brown Wrappers series.

Make sure that you listen with care, and don't say that I didn't warn you!

I would love it if you take the time to venture a guess, and tune in next week for the answer.

Plain Brown Wrappers #8

Thanks for #8. I'm downloading it now. I'll get back to you after I listen. My life is in total turmoil right now, so a Plain Brown Wrapper is just what the Doctor ordered.

Hey Nathan. Sorry to hear that your life is in total turmoil. I need to stop by your blog too, as it's been awhile since I've visited there.

Thanks for commenting about this week's Plain Brown Wrappers post. Sadly, I don't get nearly the amount of hits or comments that I used to. I feel like most people have simply lost interest in what I am doing here. I might have to reassess the direction of the blog, as it is hardly generating enough conversation to make it worth it for me anymore. We'll see what happens, but I'm going to try to mix it up a little more in the future. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Hope you dig this week's pick, and I wish you all the best.

Regards, Kevin
I have no idea who or what this is but I've been listening to it since I downloaded it. It definitely grows in awesomeness with each successive listen. Most excellent pick-me-up. Thank you so much, my friend.

Hi Kevin, only just got round to downloading this. I'll take advantage of the heatwave and listen to it in the garden this afternoon. First impressions: sounds familiar, bit like post Wyatt Soft Machine with the weird time signatures and Routledge type keyboards. Like it. As ever, thanks for sharing.

I'm glad that you dug this edition of Plain Brown Wrappers, and that it has gotten better with any successive listen. I seem to have stumped you guys this time, but it is likely that I will be revealing the answer tonight.

I'm glad to hear from you again. I hope that this music is the perfect accompaniment to your day out in the garden. I think that your comment about it sounding similar to Soft Machine is interesting. I'll have to listen to it again to see if I get that impression. As I said to Nathan, I will most likely be revealing the answer this evening.

Best to both of you!
